Lardner/Klein has experienced Landscape Architects and Planners:

Elisabeth Lardner, ASLA and AICP
Elisabeth Lardner has been practicing landscape architecture, planning, and urban design for twenty-six years.  She is a graduate of Harvard University’s Urban Design department with the honor of distinction, and the University of Oregon’s Landscape Architecture department.  Ms. Lardner’s work in developing innovative implementation techniques has helped community groups such as the Village of Midlothian Volunteer Coalition improve community appearance by utilizing small incremental projects – geared towards the annual fund-raising capabilities of the organization and apply for grants to fully construct a park such as in Chincoteague, Virginia.  Ms. Lardner's work on the Community Design Initiative in Hindman, Kentucky was honored by Places Magazine and the Environmental Design Research Association.  Ms. Lardner is currently serving as the Project Director for the design of the Vienna Town Green, in Vienna, VA, and the Laurel Hill Equestrian Center study in Lorton, Virginia.


Jim Klein, ASLA
Jim. Klein is a registered Landscape Architect with over 26 years of experience in the fields of landscape architecture, environmental planning, and corridor planning and design.  Mr. Klein is a nationally recognized expert in the preparation of corridor management plans for scenic byways, heritage touring routes, community entrance corridors, greenways and trail corridors.  Mr. Klein’s has extensive experience in context sensitive design and solutions for transportation projects, especially those with important historic, scenic, and cultural resources including work on the Route 50 Traffic Calming Project in Loudoun and Fauquier Counties in Virginia.  Mr. Klein, licensed to practice Landscape Architecture in nine states, recently  completed the Flight 93 National Memorial Corridor Study in Somerset, PA and is currently directing a multi-disciplined team in the preparation of a management plan for the Journey Through Hallowed Ground corridor from Gettysburg to Monticello. 

Rachel Newhouse, ASLA
Rachel Davis Newhouse is a registered landscape architect and has been practicing in the field for 21 years.  The majority of her expertise is in park development; planning, design and construction.  As a landscape architect and park planner for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission from 1988 – 2006, she was responsible for the design and development of over 30 parks, playgrounds and trails in Montgomery County, Maryland.  She was the lead master planner and the project manager on large construction projects including the South Germantown Soccerplex, Germantown Maryland, the Capital Crescent Trail in Bethesda, Maryland, and the Woodstock Equestrian Park in Beallsville, Maryland. As a garden designer, her experience includes the design and construction of the conifer garden and entrance gates at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD, the design and construction of the accessible walkways in McCrillis Gardens, Potomac, MD and numerous residential and institutional landscape design plans through out the metropolitan area.  Her work has received numerous awards including the MRPA Environmental Design and Construction Award for Waring Station Local Park in Germantown, Maryland, the Bethesda Civic Association Landscape Design Award for the Capital Crescent Trail and the Montgomery County Historic Preservation Award for the restoration of the historic Battery Bailey in Westmoreland Park.
